The Rising Cost of Not Living

You know that feeling of ‘where’s the time gone?’. Getting to the end of the day and wondering what you’ve been doing since you got up? Perhaps you were so busy at work, immersed in all the tasks you had to complete, demanded of by others, feeling like your feet never touched the ground…. Or maybe you weren’t working but just drifted through the day, not really aware of time slipping through your fingers…

How about taking 10 minutes in your day to stop whatever you’re doing (or not doing..) to become aware of where you are in the here and now.

Lucky you if you’re able to get outside, especially into nature. But even inside, wherever you are, take a few moments to look around you and notice what’s here: the shapes, the colours, the smells, the sounds.

Take in them all…even if it’s a pile of dirty dishes, or a messy room! Be playful as you notice what’s here. Catch yourself wishing it were different and see if you can let go of any plans to tidy up, change it any way and see if you can embrace what’s here (of course you can wash the dishes later! But for now…let go and simply be with what’s in front of you).

If, like I say, you’re lucky enough to get outside .. notice what’s here… fresh air? Sound of birds? Gentle wind against the skin? Rain drops? Sun? Whatever is here.. notice it and take some time to become interested in it.. get to know it more deeply.
